My Current Favorite Handmade Cards

Perfectly Preserved

Yes it is retired but I have yet to order my current fall favorites from Stampin' Up's 2014 Holiday Catalogue! I was inspired to make this card by one I found on Pinterest by Barb. I love the challenge of finding a beautiful card and recreating it with supplies I already have on hand.

I have not totally jumped on the watercolor band wagon. Although I do love the look, I feel like I have so many options already and to add a new set of products and supplies is a bit much right now. So I tried a different technique to get the same look using tools I already own!

I wish you could see how glittery the pears are! They just shimmer :) So here is what I did. I inked my pear in Pear Pizzaz and then touched the edges in Old Olive. Then I sprayed directly on the inked stamp with a shimmer mist! After that I just stamped it on the card and voila! I LOVE it! I used my aqua painter to pick up Chocolate Chip ink from the pad and painted on the stems. I made the splatters with an aqua painter too by picking up some ink off the pad and squeezing gently before knocking it above my card front. Hope you like it!

Mozaic Madness

OK here is my other current favorite.

Now this one I will do a video for because I used something super unexpected!
Are you curious?!? I hope so! Stay tuned :)

Some More Stuff

Here are a few recent projects.

The first is a gift I made for my friend Nicole to thank being such a generous person.
And what's inside??? You guessed it! Another one of those pincushions.
I think I've made 5 now :)

Here is a little something for my Secret sister at church. I found this itty bitty hand lotion tube for your purse and it has butterflies on it! Perfect :)
I wish the lighting were better :(

No purpose for these yet but it is a box of handmade cards with matching envelopes.
I found the basic design idea for these cards here and made it work with the supplies I already have.
Had to make some matching envelopes! I just love this set :)
This is just another box I designed with the same cards inside.
It's a prettier green in person...

Found the tutorial for this here and made my own version :)
LOVE IT!

What I've Been Up To

OK so it has been months...and months. Well, after being away all summer I came home just in time to start my morning sickness or should I say all day nausea and headaches. Didn't have the energy to keep up with my blogging. I am 24 weeks now and sick with an eternal cough. At least the morning sickness is over and I am functioning again! Ok so I've been functioning for a while just not blogging. Anyway, I thought I would post some of my latest projects.

Thought I would decorate for Valentine's this year! First time ever :)
The banner was so easy to make. I found an old Hymnal at a second hand store and cut out tons of hearts from it's pages. I was able to cut quite a few at a time. Then I just fed them through the sewing machine two at a time to stitch them together. Like I said soooo easy but I love how they look!

Found this subway art this awesome site:
It has tons of free Valentine printables!

Today I taught a card making class here at home and combined it with a play date for mom's with kiddos like myself. Evenings are hard to get together some times but crafting while the kids played worked out fabulously. Here are the projects we completed.

The next pic is what I am putting in my valentines this year!
Isn't he the cutest!

While everything is red here are a few other projects:
Sorry about the crazy lighting!

One Last Thing
One of my super stampin up friends came for a visit a few weeks ago and brought a tons of her products which I took advantage of! Thanks Rena :) I die cut a ton of scalloped squares in my favourite fabrics so that I could make these....OK so I've only made one but I can make many more!
I got the idea straight from the Stampin Up catalogue. I just love it!

Treasure Chest Card

 High Seas Adventure!

This week our church is putting on an amazing Vacation Bible School program called The High Seas. Our church was transformed into a pirate ship at sea for this special event. It looks absolutely amazing! Check it out.

I was asked to design a card for the kids to make and it turned out so cute that I made 15 more as thank you's for the volunteers. It took a lot of time but was so worth it. I thought this week I would do a tutorial on this very card! I hope you like it :)

Here is a picture of it.

Scrapbooking Scraps

Super early post this week!
Here is a fun way to use up scrap paper.
It is so versatile because you can use any shape: heart, star, circle etc.
It is also great for cards as well as layouts.

Here is the simple procedure :)
A BIG sorry about the lighting on this.
But you get the idea :)

I did not have time to complete the layout but here is the beginnings.

And here is the card I forgot to show you.

And finally, here is a different shape.

Hope you find this tip useful.
Leave a comment and let me know :)
